The Carlton Bulldogs rebounded Saturday against the Hill City Hornets as the Bulldogs, capturing their seventh win of the season. They
beat the Hornets 7-0. The Bulldogs have now won three of their last four games.

“We played a lot better today than we did yesterday,” head coach Scott Battaglia told Northland Sports Online. “When we had runners in scoring position we capitalized today.” Ben Rapp was the starter for the Bulldogs; he gave Carlton four strong innings and got the win. Caleb Hatfield pitched the final three innings, picking up the save for the Bulldogs.

“Ben did a great job getting us some innings we have used our pitchers a little too much lately,” Battaglia said. “We have four games next week so rested arms might be in short supply.” The Bulldogs jumped out in front in the first inning by scoring two runs. They added two more in the third and picked up four runs in the top of the seventh, winning by seven runs.

Caleb Hatfield, Joey Broneak, and Ben Rapp all had two hits in the Bulldog victory. Rapp also added two runs batted in.

Rapp, the winning pitcher gave up no runs, two hits, walked only two batters and struck out four as he picked up the win.

The Bulldogs now move to 7-5 on the season and are in action again on Monday as they host AlBrook. The Hornets fall to 3-11 overall on the season and are in action again on Monday, taking on the Floodwood Polar Bears in Floodwood.
