All – Area Boy’s Hockey Team

Player of the Year

a24hn10egerwgerbgre8_largeThe 2013-2014 Northland Sports Online Player of the Year Award goes to Duluth East’s senior defenseman Phillip Beaulieu.

Beaulieu who plays both forward and defense for the Greyhounds, helped lead the Greyhounds to the state boys hockey tournament where they would finish as consolation round runners up to Roseau.

Beaulieu finished the season with 19 goals and 21 assists on the season for a total of 44 points, while playing on one of the teams with one of the toughest state schedules.

Phil a four year veteran for the Greyhounds scored two goals as a junior in the state tournament in 2013.

Phil finished his high school career with 35 goals and 77 assists for 112 career points for the Greyhounds.

All Area Team

 

Nick Altman – Duluth East junior forward finished the season with 20 goals and 27 assists for 47 total points. Altman finished with 9 power play goals and had 2 shorthanded goals for Duluth East.

 

Gunnar Howg – Junior Goaltender for the Duluth East Greyhounds finished the season with an overall record of 19-5 on the season and he finished with 486 total saves this year.

 

Zach Kramer – Senior Center for the Hermantown Hawks has been a three year standout that has helped lead Hermantown to the state tournament over his three seasons.

 

Ryan Lind- Senior Defenseman for Cloquet-Esko-Carlton was a top defenseman for the Lumberjacks this season. Ryan finished with 7 goals and 14 assists for 21 total points.

 

Aaron Miller- Senior forward for the Superior Spartans was one on the top scores in the region as he finished the 2013-2014 season with 31 goals and 27 assists for 58 total points.

 

James Newgren- Senior Forward for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton Lumberjacks anchored the Lumberjacks top line as he finished the season with 13 goal & 11 assists for 24 total points.

 

Luke Pavelich- Senior Forward for the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers finished the season as Marshall’s leading scorer. Pavelich ended his season with 21 goals & 19 assists including 11 power play goals.

 

Nate Pionk – Junior forward for Hermantown, helped led the Hawks to a second place finish in the state boy’s hockey tournament. Nate finished the season with 51 points including 21 goals.

 

Christian Ripley – Proctor Rails senior forward was the team’s leading scorer this season, as he finished with 20 goals and 13 assists. Ripley also led the Rails in game winning goals.

 

Zach Strom- Senior Goalie for the Lumberjacks of Cloquet-Esko-Carlton finished with a regular season goals against average of 2.97 and finished with a save percentage of .875.

 

Nick Thompson- Denfeld Hunter junior defenseman was the only junior named all 1st team Lake Superior Conference. Nick finished with 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points this season.

 

Alex Trapp- – Duluth East senior defenseman helped led the Greyhounds to a sixth place finish in the boys state hockey tournament. Trapp had 7 goals, 27 assists for 34 total points.
