Eskomos Back to Section final for 5th Straight Year

The Esko Eskomos played the Mesabi East Giants on Wednesday night. The game would be closely contested throughout, but it would be the Eskomos topping the Giants 54-43.

The Eskomos held the slim 24-22 lead at the half and they would go to outscore the Giants 30-21 in the second half to ensure their spot in the Section 7AA championship once again.

The Eskomos were led by Ava Gonsorowski and Kailee Katt. Gonsorowski tallied 12 points and Katt followed with 10. Erika Shady and Judy Wagemaker both had nice performances with 9 each. Also scoring in the win was Kailee Kiminski and Bailey Mudek with 4 each, Ashley Bergerson and Hailey Salo with 2 a piece and Selena Shady topping it off with 1.

The Giants were led by Britta Erie with 16 points. Emma Erie followed with 8 points, and Amy Allen pitched in 6 points in the loss.

The Giants season ends with a 18-10 record. The Eskomos improve to 24-5 and will play in the Section 7AA championship game against the Barnum Bombers (19-8) on March 15th at UM-Duluth with a 7:00 PM tipoff.
