Duluth Denfeld Falls In Quarterfinals

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters squared off with the Grand Rapids Thunderhawks Friday night in a Section 7AAA Quarterfinals game. The Hunters would find themselves on the wrong side of the scoreboard when the night ended, falling 62-48.

The Thunderhawks went into the locker room at halftime holding the 34-25 lead. The Hunters would try to battle back but wouldn’t achieve as they would get outscored 28-23 in the second half to see their season end.

The Hunters were led by Ashley Taipale who hit a game high 16 points. Lexi Hill would follow with 10 points, Ciarra Taipale added 7, Cassie Bolen notched 5, Gabby Nordman and Keara Ballavance each had 4, and Maddy White ended the evening with 2 points.

The Thunderhawks won with a balance scoring attack which included Taylor Kane notching 13, Kaitlyn Guertin hitting 10, and Megan Allen, Heaven Hamling, and Maggie Gibbons all hitting 8 in the win.

The Hunters end their season with a 8-19 record. The Thunderhawks improve to 18-9 and will advance to the 7AAA semifinals and play the 6th seed North Branch Vikings (13-14) at Duluth Denfeld on March 12th with a 7:45 tipoff.
