CLOQUET – Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College officially entered its fourth season of college football on Monday afternoon in hot and steamy conditions at Hilltop Park just across the street from the college. First year coach Keith Turner welcomed 38 athletes to the practice with temperatures hovering around the 90-degree mark as practice began.

Turner arrived on campus two months ago and began preparations for this day by calling coaches, players and other personnel in an effort to recruit a team that he hopes can vie for a Northern Division title in the MCAC.

As practice began the Thunder broke into two units and worked on the punting and return of punt game. In the MCAC the specialty teams are of utmost importance, and Turner who was a former coach at Vermilion Community College in Ely, put his team through drills in an effort to make sure the interior line blocking schemes were handled correctly.

The team will continue to practice until August 28th when they open the season against Central Lakes College of Brainerd on the road in St. Cloud. The Thunder will host their home opener on Saturday, September 4th at Bromberg Field against Minnesota State-Fergus Falls.
