Barnum Loses Star Athlete and Person

A recent Barnum star athlete who has been battling cancer has passed away. Stuart McCoy, who was the subject of numerous news stories this past year regarding his cancer, died on Tuesday at Solvay Hospice House at the age of 18.

McCoy graduated from Barnum High School with the class of 2010 and was a captain of the Bombers track team. In 1992 McCoy moved to Barnum where he started his involvement in track and where he eventually would be a team leader for the Bomber thinclads. McCoy had been a member of the Bomber track team his entire high school career.

On May 13th of this year a Run-A-Thon was held in an effort to help raise funds to aid the McCoy family in Stuart’s fight against melanoma cancer.

There will be a memorial service held in Stuart’s honor on Friday, August 6th at the Barnum Fair Grounds Pavilion.
