Thunderhawks End Hunters Season

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters went into Friday nights game looking to upset the No. 2 seeded Grand Rapids Thunderhawks but wouldn’t be able to accomplish as the Thunderhawks downed the Hunters 69-48.

The Hunters got down 39-18 at the half and they wouldn’t be able to climb out of the deficit despite matching the Thunderhakws 30-30 in the second half.

The Hunters were led by Jamarr Harkins in the loss. Harkins tallied a game high 25 points. Bryce Kucharski added 7, Spencer Wallner pitched in 5, Jack Monson added 4, Des Turner scored 3, and Marques Jones and Kjell Randa topped it off with 2 a piece.

The Thunderhawks were led by Alex Illikainen who notched 23 points on the evening. Sam Smokrovich and Cole Herring each put in nice efforts as well scoring 13 and 12 respectively.

The Hunters season ends with a 5-21 record. The Thunderhawks improve to 16-9 on the year and will move on to play the No. 3 seeded Hermantown Hawks (18-9) in the Section 7AAA Semifinals on March 4th in Hibbing at 7:45.
