Lady Jacks Shoot Down Rails

Kassidy Steen proved to be too much inside for the Proctor Rails to handle on Friday night as the Cloquet Lumberjacks rode the sophomore center to a 59-40 Lake Superior Conference girls basketball victory.  Steen, finished with 32 points and the Lumberjacks rebounded from an earlier week loss to Moose Lake-Willow River.

  The Lumberjacks had an impressive first half and built a 30-14 lead that they never relinquished.  Point guard Kaylee McMillen was also impressive for Cloquet with a 12 point night.  The Jacks outscored the Rails 29-26 in the second half.

  Bridget Tesser led the Rails with 16 points and Kyla Merril added 14 points for Proctor.  Also scoring for the Rails were; Lexie DeWall (4), Brianna Westendorf (4) and Krista Mottonen (2).
  The Lumberjacks also got a solid night from guard Grace Sinisalo who recently returned to the line up after overcoming an injury from the high school soccer season.  Sinisalo finished with nine points, Hazel Erickson added four points and Anna Fossen recorded two points.

  The win improves the Lumberjacks record to 14-10 on the season, while the Rails drop to 10-16.
