Floodwood Drops Cromwell

In a Section 7A playoff matchup, the No. 3 seeded Floodwood Polar Bears and No. 6 seeded Cromwell Cardinals squared off in Hermantown on Thursday evening. The Polar Bears would come out victorious with the hard fought 56-47 victory.

The Polar Bears got off to a quick start on Thursday night, grabbing the 26-17 lead at the half. The two teams would each score 30 points in the second half as the Polar Bears would walk away with the victory.

Riley Bernsdorf would lead the Polar Bears in the win with 22 points including hitting 4 threes. Also hitting 4 from deep was Ryder Lough who scored 12. Also in the win for the Polar Bears was Noah Thompson with 10, Willow Christenson and Kyle Tamminen with 5, and Damien Autio topping it off with 2.

Tyler Hakamaki lead the Cardinals in the loss with 12 points, followed by Zion Smith with 10 and Brandon Fairbanks with 9. Also in the box score was Austin Pfisthner notching 8, Carter Karppinen and Tristan Johnson each tallying 3, and Tyler Randall topping it off with 2.

The Polar Bears advance to the Section 7A quarterfinals where they will play the No. 2 seeded South Ridge Panthers (21-3) on March 1st in Hibbing with a 5:45 tip off. The Cardinals end their season with a 7-18 record.
