Cloquet Wins LSC Conference Title

The Cloquet Lumberjacks needed to top the Duluth Denfeld Hunters on Monday night to claim the LSC Conference title and they would do just that, beating the Hunters 58-39 to secure their first conference championship since 1984.

The Lumberjacks got out to the quick start leading 33-20 at the half and they would never look back as the would go on to outscore the Hunters 25-19 in the second half to secure the win.

Leading the Lumberjacks to the conference title was Adam Laine who tallied 31 points. Nate Weets would punch in 10, Dillion Johnson, Jake Bushey, and Zach Gerlach each tallied 5, and Gavin Takkunen topped it off with 2.

In the loss, Duluth Denfeld was lead by Jamarr Harkins who had a team high 12 points. Marquis Jones added 6, Kjell Randa pitched in 5, Jack Monson and Spencer Wallner added 4, Des Turner scored 3, Bryce Kucharski and Shane Yagoda each notched 2 and Jerrick Ashcroft topped it off with 1.

The Lumberjacks end their regular season with a 21-4 record and as the LSC Conference champions. The Lumberjacks are the No. 1 seed in the 7AAA playoffs and will play the No. 8 Hibbing Bluejackets (10-15) on February 28th in Cloquet at 7:00 PM. The Hunters end their regular season with a 5-20 record. They have the No. 7 seed in the 7AAA playoffs and they will play the No. 2 Grand Rapids Thunderhawks (15-9) in Grand Rapids on February 28th at 7:00 PM.
