Hermantown To Play In Section Finals

The Hermantown Hawks were looking to advance to their 6th straight Section finals on Saturday night and they would do just that, skating by the Duluth Denfeld Hunters 6-1 to advance to the Section 7A finals.

The first period saw Hermantown take the early 1-0 lead when Parker Hawk and Zach Kramer assisted Josh Lenard on the early goal.

To kick off the second period, Duluth Denfeld notched it up 1-1 when Steven Maciver found the back of the net, capitalizing on the power play. Hermantown would be quick to grab the lead back however when Zach Kramer scored off of a Wyatt Aamodt and Nate Pionk pass to give the Hawks the 2-1 lead. Hermantown would continue to increase that lead when Scott Wasbotten score and when Parker Hawk hit the back of the net to give the Hawks the 4-1 lead.

In the third period, Hermantown would keep their foot on the gas as Kyle Amundson scored a goal assisted by Kori Ochs and Eric Gotz to increase the  lead to 5-1. Nate Pionk would top the scoring off when Kramer and Ryan Kero assisted his goal to give them the 6-1 victory.

Duluth Denfelds Wes Cook stopped 46 shots on the night, while Adam Smith of Hermantown stopped 26.

The Duluth Denfeld Hunters end their season with a 14-11-2 record. The Hermantown Hawks improve to 21-4-2 on the season and will square off with the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers (18-9) on February 26th in the Section 7A finals at Amsoil Arena with a 7:30 face-off.
