Newman’s 45 Propels Barnum

The Barnum Bombers were looking to end their regular season with a victory and thats exactly what they would do, topping the McGregor Mercuries 99-51.

The Bombers got out to the 53-29 lead at the half and would go on to outscore the Mercuries 46-22 in the second half while securing the win.

Leading the Bombers in the win was Brandon Newman with an impressive 45 points performance which included hitting 6 from deep. Also in the win for the Bombers, Zach Carlson notched 17, Nathan Jelinek and Chase Peterson both tallied 11, Andy Naslund added 6, Cory Buchanan pitched in 3, and Chris Carlson, Mitchell Weller, and Tory Slater all topped it off with 2.

In the loss for McGregor, Layne Sprague and Auston Anderson each had 16 points a piece. Cole Gelhar added 9, Billy Staska tallied 8, and topping it off for the Mercuries was Jordan Mickelson with 2.

The Bombers end their regular season with a 23-2 record, which secured them the No. 2 seed in the section 7AA playoffs and will play the No. 7 seed Rush City Tigers (10-12) on February 25th in Barnum at 7:00 PM. McGregor ends the regular season with a 7-17 record, which gave them the No. 8 seed in the Section 7A playoffs and they will play the No. 9 seed Carlton Bulldogs (3-19) on February 25th in McGregor at 7:00 PM.
