Hermantown Opens Playoffs with Shutout

The Hermantown Hawks shutout the International Falls Broncos Friday night in the section 7A Quarterfinals at Hermantown Ice Arena. The win moves the Hawks into the section semi-finals Saturday night in Grand Rapids where they will face Duluth Denfeld who knocked of Hibbing/Chisholm Friday night.

A very balanced attack led the Hawks to victory Friday night as they would score three goals in each period and Jace Thomas stopped all shots that he faced for the shutout victory.

Scott Wasbotten netted the hat trick for the Hawks and he added two assists in the Hermantown win.Nate Pionk and Wyatt AAmodt also added a goal and two assists for the Hawks.

Ryan Kero, Kori Ochs, Eric Gotz, and Ryan Carlson were the goal scorers Friday night, as the Hawks now face Duluth Denfeld Saturday night in the section semifinals.
