Hawks trip Vikings in O.T.

The Hermantown Hawks came away with a huge sectional win Tuesday night as the Hawks downed the North Branch Vikings in overtime by a score of 63-61 at North Branch High School.

In a contest where both teams were battling for sectional seeding it was the Hawks outscoring the Vikings 6-4 in the overtime period as the Hawks moved closer to the Cloquet Lumberjacks in the section 7AAA QRF rankings.

The Hawks featured four players in double figures with Jordyn Thomas with 16 points, Carley Hansen added 16, Emily Neumann chipped in with 13, while it was Shania Bolen adding 12 and it was Kianna Hren finishing with 7 points in the Hermantown victory.

Courtney Selbitschka led all scorers with 20 points for North Branch, Taylor Gazda had 13 and Morgen Coleman was the other Viking in double figures with 12 points in the loss.

Hermantown improves to 12-9 on the season and they will face Duluth Marshall on Thursday night at Marshall School in Duluth.

The Vikings fall to 9-12 on the season and they will by home Thursday night when they host the St. Francis Saints.

North Branch — Courtney Selbitschka 20, Taylor Gazda 13, Morgen Coleman 12, Haley Huset 9, Mikayla Carlson 5, Kalley Hartmann 2. Totals 24 10-14 61.
