Katrina Newman threw her second no hitter of the Section 5A playoffs Tuesday to assist the Bombers to their 20-0 win over the Ogilvie Lions. Newman’s first no hitter was in the first round of the section playoffs last Friday against Rush City.

Newman not only threw a no hitter, she also had two home runs and six runs batted in the twenty-run win. Barnum had seven batters that had two or more hits in the game including Claire Rodgers, Allainie Hanek-Siltanen, Karianna Duesler, Jessica Newman, Jenna Shanda, and Katie Myhre.

“We hit the ball today,” head coach Randy Myhre told Northland Sports Online. “Up and down the lineup, we were aggressive offensively and it paid off. We want to keep this thing rolling, playing well and getting deep in the tournament. Kat had another great performance on the mound. Her second no hitter is an amazing feat.”

Newman finished with ten strikeouts in the win as the Bombers improve to 19-2 overall on the season. Barnum now advances to the sub-section championship game Thursday afternoon in Mora to face Braham. Braham, the three seed, upset the second seed Isle Huskies on Tuesday afternoon.
