Esko-Carlton Takes Boys And Girls Golf Championships

The Esko-Carlton boys’ and girls’ golf teams completed a sweep in the Polar League by winning dual meets to capture both titles. The first of the two meets was held in Cloquet at the Cloquet Country Club and the second was held at Superior National golf course in Lutsen, Minnesota.


Esko-Carlton won the boys team meet, shooting 717 for the two meets. Moose Lake-Willow River was second as they posted a score of 749, Two Harbors finished third at 753, Cook County was a close fourth shooting 758, and Wrenshall shot 1008.


Kip Sande of Cook County High School was the boys medalist for the Polar League Championship. Nick Neve of Esko-Carlton finished in second place overall. Zach Twiest of Cook County placed third, and it was Allen Davis of Esko-Carlton finishing in fourth place. Rounding out the top five was Marc Peterson of Esko-Carlton.


The Esko-Carlton girls’ team finished in first place with a combined score of 863. The Two Harbor Agates and the Rebels of Moose Lake-Willow River tied for second place with both schools shooting a total of 923.


Sarah Gustafson of Esko-Carlton was the girls medalist, while her teammate Cori Pelletier finished in second place. Erin Hoeft from Two Harbors finished in third place, Sarah Juntunen of Esko-Carlton was fourth, and rounding out the top five was Samantha Schaumburg of Moose Lake-Willow River.
