Panthers Win Double Header With Proctor

The South Ridge Panthers boys and girls squared off in a double header Friday night with the Proctor Rails. The Panthers boys team would come out with the 82-61 victory, while the girls team would win 64-52.

The boys got out to 41-36 lead at the half and would outscore Proctor 41-25 in the second half to take the 82-61 win.

Leading the Panthers in this win was a balanced scoring attack. Bill Redding scored 23, Drew Janke notched 17, Kody Karppinen added 16, and Colton Peterson hit 10. Also scoring in the win was Dominic Janke with 9, Kaleb Dallmann with 3, and Jake Carlson and Zach Johnson topping it off with 2 a piece.

In the loss for the Rails, Jordan Bergquist had a game high 32 points. Travis Carlson also pitched in 19, Henry Habermann notched 12, Bryden Urie added 5, and Chase Urie topped it off with 2.

On the girls side of the ball, the Panthers lead 33-19 at the half but would get outscored 33-32 in the second half, but still came out with the 64-52 win.

Leading the Panthers to the victory was Krystal Karppinen with a game high 23 points. Justice Janke and Mikayla Olesiak each notched 14 on the night, Lindsey Janke added 6, Ryanna Anvid pitched in 5, and Mallory Thibault rounded it out with 2.

In the loss for the Rails, Brianna Westendorf and Bridget Tesser each scored 16, Lexi DeWall pitched in 12, Krista Mottonen added 3, Lindsey Ziells scored 2, and Kelly Kruger topped it off with 1.

The South Ridge boys improve to 16-3 on the season, while the girls improve to 11-7. The Proctor boys fall to 8-11 on the year and the girls drop to 6-13. The Panthers boys will play the Two Harbors Agates (9-9) on February 10th. The Panthers girls will play the Northeast Range Nighthawks (11-4) on February 11th. The Rails boys team will play on the road against the Superior Spartans (3-12) on February 10th. The girls Proctor team will play on the road against the Duluth Denfeld Hunters (7-12) on February 11th.
