Hermantown Boys Tennis Wins Lumberjacks Fall

The Hermantown Hawks picked up their first win of the season in boys tennis after dropping their first two matches. The Hawks lost to Superior and Grand Rapids. The Hawks then rebounded to down the Duluth Denfeld Hunters 4-3.

The match stayed very tight and was undecided until the very end.
The Hawks won two singles match-ups and two matches in doubles. Jeremy Amys defeated Chad Bolen, and Ryan McEachern defeated Corey Bolen to pick up the singles wins. In doubles it was Corey Kolquist and Kevin Danielson beating Tyler Morrison and Brendon Johnson. The Hawks other doubles win came from Travis Peterson and Cody Neubarth, who won over Matt Skurich and Tanner Jazdzewski for the Hawks 4-3 win.


The Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys tennis team lost Thursday to a very strong Superior Spartan squad in Superior. It was the Spartans squeaking past the Jacks 4-3 in this Lake Superior conference contest. The Lumberjacks won two singles matches and one doubles match-up on the afternoon.


It was Sean Kedrowski and Zach Zezulka picking up the singles wins for the Lumberjacks. Kedrowski defeated Steve Stein and Zezulka downed Weston Morris to get the second singles win.
Christian Pritchett and Ryan Lind picked up the only doubles win with a victory over Ryan Zimmerman and Shaun Mattson.


Hermantown improves to 1-2 on the season. The Hawks will host Pine City in a match Friday afternoon. The Lumberjacks fall to 3-2 on the season and will be back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to take on the Tigers of Princeton at Princeton High School.
