On National Signing Day for football, the northland area has some kids that have chose their college choices. Erza Szczrybak, Jon Evenson, and Aaron Wakefield-Zubiate are three big names in the area that have made their decisions.

Szczrybak has chosen to go play for FCS school, Northern Iowa on a full ride scholarship. He is projected to play defensive end for the Panthers. Szczrybak also had FCS schools, North Dakota and Western Illinois, along with Div. II school, UMD, showing interest.

UMD, however, didn’t lose out on Szczrybak’s teammate, Jon Evenson, as he has committed to the Bulldogs. He played running back and linebacker for the Rebels in his high school career. The Bulldogs are also expected to sign Superior’s RB/DB Aaron Wakefield-Zubiate and Duluth East’s OL/DL Joe Yernatich.

Besides Szczrybak and Evenson, there are other Rebels are drawing college interest. OG/DT Hunter Herzog is looking at possibly playing for St. Scholastica or Bemidji State, RB/DT Dylan Lovegreen will play college football at either St. Scholastica or Hamline, RB/DB Alex Kenemore has received interest from Upper Iowa and Bemidji State and OT/DT Josh Leonard has decided to play collegiate football at Fond du Lac.

Also in the area, Proctors RB Joe Carter and Hermantown’s LB Brock Taylor are looking to join the St. Scholastica’s football program this next season. Barnum also had 2 signees as OT Brady Youngberg  has decided to play for Bemidji State and OT Tory Slater  is going to play for Minnesota-Crookston.
