Pelletier Finishes Second at Mesabi Invite

Cloquet-Esko’s Cori Pelletier finished second Monday in the Mesabi East Girls Golf Invitational tournament at the Legends Golf Course in Biwabik. Pelletier finished second behind Ellie Carlson of Duluth East, who was the medalist on Monday for the Greyhounds.


Carlson finished with a 79, ten strokes better the Pelletier, who shot an 89 and was tied with two other golfers who also shot an 89 Monday. Jane Sloan of Greenway Nashwauk-Keewatin and Alyssa Bergstrom of International Falls both tied for second with 89’s.


Kelly Blair of International Falls, Kaitlin Zenner of Duluth East, and Katrina Leoni and Maddy Sjoberg both of Eveleth-Gilbert all tied for fifth place with a 91 each. Cloquet-Esko’s Sarah Juntunen finished ninth with a 94, and it was Malinda Porter who finished in tenth place with a 95.


The Duluth East Greyhounds captured the team title shooting a 367 overall, International Fall was second with a 375, Eveleth-Gilbert was third with a team total of 386, Cloquet-Esko was fourth with a 389, and Hibbing was fifth with a 397. Wrenshall placed seventh overall with a 618.


Emily Gustafson was 13th on the day as she finished with a 98, other Cloquet-Esko golfers included Rachel Morrison who shot a 109 Monday for Cloquet-Esko and it was Katlyn Miller finished out the scoring for Cloquet-Esko with a 122.


The Wrenshall Wrens were led by Rebecca House who shot a 144, Natalie Peaney finished with a 150, Sabrina Sabin shot a 158, while it was Abbie Menze who had a 166, and it was Cassie Grant finishing with a 169 for the Wrens.
