Cloquet Girls, Denfeld Boys Win Quad Track Meet in Cloquet

The Cloquet Lumberjack girl’s track team finished ahead of the Proctor Rails to win the four team event at Cloquet High School Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Lumberjacks finished first with 89.5 points, second were the Rails with 76.5, Duluth Denfeld finished third with 67 points, and Ashland was fourth with 33.


The boys portion of the event was won by the Hunters of Duluth Denfeld with a total of 98 points, Ashland was second with 73.5, the Proctor Rails were third with 54 points, and the Lumberjacks were fourth with 47.5 points.


The Lady Lumberjacks finished first in three of the four relays, winning the 4×200, 4×400, and the 4×800. Denfeld won the only other relay, the 4×100. Individual winners included Amy Campbell in the 300 meter hurdles, Campbell also finished first in the high jump. Hailee Peterson won the 3200 meter run, Emily Johnson won the 800 meter run, and Annabel Morrisroe was the winner in the shot put.


The Proctor Rails had three first place finishers in the meet: Nicole Lind won the discus, Micayla Westendorf finished first in the 100 meter hurdles, and it was Steph Strapple the winner on the Pole Vault.


Winners in the boys meet for Cloquet were RaRa Jones, who won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.5 and Jared Anderson, who won the high jump at 5’9”. Chad Calcaterra finished second in the 400 meter run and the high jump. Nathaniel Schulz of Cloquet finished second in the discus event with a throw of 116′-10″.


The Proctor Rails had two individuals who finished first, with one athlete finishing first in two events Tuesday. The winners were Chris Carlson, finishing first in both the 200 and the 400 meter dashes for the Rails, and Tyler Haedrich, who finished first in the 300 meter hurdles.
