Rebels Sweep Vikings

The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels swept past the Cook County Vikings Friday night in both a boys and girls basketball double header in Willow River. The Boys knocked off the Vikings by a score of 64-36 and in a closer contest it was the Rebels coming away with a 46-38 win.

Brad Fossum led nine Rebels players who hit the scoring column Friday as he scored 29 points and connected on five 3-pointers. Ike Pederson and Charlie Adamczak also hit double figures with 11 points each.

The Rebels improved to 12-6 on the season and they are in action again Monday when they face Mora at Home. The Vikings fall to 3-9 and they will play at Silver Bay on Thursday.

In the girls contest it was Adri Jusczak leading the way as she poured in 23 to lead the Rebels to the eight point win. The rebels started fast building up a twenty point 31-11 lead at the break and held off the Vikings late surge for the victory.

Breana Peterson led the Vikings with 21 points on the night as the Vikings fall to 2-9 on the season and they will face Two Harbors on Monday night in Two Harbors.

The lady Rebels look to make it two in a row on Monday night when they will host Hinckley-Finlayson in a sectional match-up in Willow River.
