The Proctor/Hermantown Mirage and Duluth Northern Stars matched up on Friday night and it would take an extra period to decide the game. The Mirage would come out victorious in the extra period to grab the 2-1 victory.

The scoring kicked off just 2 minutes into the game as Duluths Callie Hoff hit the back of the net off passes from Calie Kunst and Brionna Stafne to give them the early 1-0 lead. The Mirage would answer back though, at the 16 minute mark Sophie McGovern scored a goal of her own that was assisted by Reilly Fawcett.

There wouldn’t be any scoring in the next two period, leaving the score a 1-1 tie at the end of the 3rd period forcing an overtime period. In that overtime, it would take 7 minutes until Jillayne Gilbert scored on a power play goal assisted by Fawcett and Mikayla Kero to give the Mirage the 2-1 victory on the evening.

In the nets, Mirage goalie, Kylie Hommerding blocked 23 shots in the win. Northern Stars goalie, Kaylen Henricksen stopped 18 shots.

The Mirage improve to 14-10 on the season and will have to wait for the playoff brackets to come out to find out their next opponent. The Northern Stars fall to 10-13-1 on the year and have one game left for the regular season against the Rogers Royals (12-9-3) on February 1st.
