ML-WR 13 Barnum 9 8 innings


The Rebels rallied late to tie the game at 7-7 and went on to win this Polar League contest by a score of 13-9. Michael Unzen had 2 hits and drove in two runs for ML-WR. Justin Newman had two hits and had 2 RBIs for Barnum.

AlBrook 12 Silver Bay 10

The Albrook Falcons picked up their second straight win of the season when they downed the Silver Bay Mariners by a score of 12-10 at Silver Bay. With the win, the Falcons move to 2-0 on the season and play at Barnum on Monday afternoon.

Esko 10 Crosby-Ironton 1

The hosting Esko Eskomos picked up their fourth straight win to start the 2010 season. Jordan Balow was the winning pitcher. Max Reinertson and Richard Jubie each had two hits in the Esko victory.

Cloquet 15 Ashland 8

The Cloquet Lumberjacks opened their 2010 season with a win over the Ashland Oredockers in Ashland on Friday afternoon. The win over the Oredockers also gives Cloquet their first conference win on the season.

Hill City 16 Carlton 5

The Hornets of Hill City jumped out to an early lead Friday afternoon and never looked back as they win big at Chub Lake Park in Carlton. Zach Veno led the Bulldogs with two hits. Carlton evens its record at 2-2 on the season.

Hermantown 12 Northwestern 5

The Hermantown Hawks evened their record at 1-1 on the season with a win Friday afternoon over the Northwestern Tigers of Maple, Wisconsin. Connor Lucas and Andrew Gillberg paced the Hawks with 2 RBIs each.

Cloquet 7 Mora 5

The Lumberjacks picked up their second win of the season when they defeated the defending Section 7AA champion Mora Mustangs. Peter LaCourse had three hits for the Lumberjacks and Jacob Horn drove in 2 runs in the win at home.

Softball

AlBrook 16 Silver Bay 10

The AlBrook Falcons picked up a big win Friday afternoon when they beat the defending Section 7A champions by a six run margin. Ariel Morris led the Falcons going 5-5 from the plate for AlBrook in the road win.

Hill City 5 Carlton 1


The Hill City Hornets kept their unbeaten streak intact, but the Carlton Bulldogs four game win streak came to an end Friday. The Bulldogs hope to regroup with a home game Tuesday against McGregor.

Hibbing 1 Proctor 0

The Hibbing Bluejackets knocked off the Proctor Rails Friday afternoon with the shutout over the Rails in Proctor. Kristy Rudberg pitched seven innings and gave up only three hits in the victory for the Bluejackets.

Hermantown 7 Chisago Lakes 2

The #2 state ranked Hermantown Hawks picked up their second win of the season Saturday with the five-run win over the Wildcats. Megan Mullen and Julia Gilbert each had two hits for Hermantown in the win. Gilbert also had 2 RBIs.

Forrest Lake 4 Hermantown 0


The Hawks fell Saturday afternoon to the Rangers of Forrest Lake as part of a double header with Chisago Lakes. Taylor Burmeister led the Rangers with four hits and was the winning pitcher. Megan Mullen had 12 strikeouts in the Hawk loss.
