Three Lady Bombers to Play in Coaches All Star Series

Three seniors from the state championship girls basketball team have been invited to participate in the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches’ Association All-Star series on Friday, April 16th and Saturday, April 17th. The series is sponsored by the Minnesota Girls Basketball Coaches Association and by the Minnesota Lynx.

The three Barnum Bombers are Katrina Newman, Sarah Myhre, and Leah Nordvall. Those three will be joined by Annessa Hicks from St. Paul Humboldt, Megan Quiram from Cannon Valley, Jessica Finck of Bertha-Hewitt, Sari Noga from Parkers Prairie, Bree Holleman from Hancock, Essa Jacobson form Cook County, and Adrianna Ivanovich from Bigfork.

They will represent Class A teams. This series has four teams separated by class and play from there. The only other player from Northern Minnesota is Laicee Grahek from Hibbing, who will play with the Class AAA team.

The first game is scheduled for Friday evening at 6 p.m. with the second game to follow 20 minutes after that conclusion. On Saturday, game one starts at 1:00 p.m. and again the second game will start 20 minutes after. Those that attend this series will be able to see 40 outstanding seniors compete at one site.

In conjunction with this event, the 2010 Girls Basketball Coaches’ Association Hall of Fame Banquet will be on Saturday, the 17th. The Miss Minnesota Basketball award will be announced at the banquet, where Katrina Newman has been named one of the five finalists.
