Lumberjacks Cut Down The Giants

After falling in a heartbreaker Thursday night to the Hermantown Hawks, the Cloquet Lumberjacks were looking to bounce back against the Mesabi East Giants on Friday. Well the Lumberjacks would do just that as they came out with the 71-41 victory.

The Lumberjacks got out to the 47-21 lead at the half. They would continue to roll by the Giants outscoring them 24-20 in the second half while on their way to the 71-41 victory over the Mesabi East Giants.

Leading the Lumberjacks to the victory was Adam Laine who scored 18 points and Dillon Johnson who tallied 17 points, including 4 three pointers. Also scoring in the win for the Lumberjacks was Gavin Takkunen and Zach Gerlach who each had 7 points, Maxx Brenner added 4, Josh Peterson scored 3, Victor Foxx and Rand Bieri had 2 a piece, and Mason Brenner and Isaac Gilchrist rounded it off with 1 a piece.

For the Giants, Steve Radtke lead the team with 13 points. Neil Seibert added 10 in the loss. Michael Greene and Daniel Radtke each scored 4, Travis Mount and Riley Erickson each added 3, and Daniel Bobence and Donovan Walchuk topped it off with 2 points a piece.

The Lumberjacks improve to 12-2 on the season and will look for another win when they play in the Martin Luther King Classic at UMD. They take on the St. Cloud Apollo Eagles (10-6) at Noon. Mesabi East falls to 3-11 with the loss.
