Janke’s Three Pointer Propels Panthers

Dominic Janke hot an NBA range three pointer as time expired as the South Ridge Panthers came from behind to defeat the Chisholm Bluestreaks by a score of 55-52 Friday night in Culver.

Janke finished with a game high 17 points Friday night with 16 points coming in the second half. The Bluestreaks started fast Friday night in a low scoring ball controlled offense in the firs half as Chisholm led 25-17 at the break.

The Panthers started fast in the second half cutting the Chisholm lad down to one point twice in the early going but it was the Bluestreaks answered the early runs from the Panthers in the second half.

Chisholm went on a run late in the second half which gave the Bluestreaks a nine point 45-36 lead with four minutes remaining in the half, but it was the Panthers who then went on an 12-3 run to tie the game at 48-48.

Drew Janke hit two huge three pointers and Colton Peterson added ten second half points including a huge basket to tie the game at 48-48 with 2:21 to go in the contest. Chisholm extended the lead to 50-48 and South Ridge answered right back.

Chisholm again took a two point lead at 52-50 when Dominic Janke tied the score once again at 52-52 with under a minute to play. Following turnovers by both teams the Bluestreaks had the basketball with 28 second remaining and they were looking for the last shot of the game.

Kody Karppinen forced a turnover and the loose ball picked up by Dominic Janke near half court grabbed the ball dribbled into the front court and let a NBA range three pointer fly and as it went through the basket the crowd erupted as the Panthers picked up the home sectional victory.

Following Dominic in scoring was Bill Redding with 14 points and Colton Peterson and Drew Janke both ended with 12 points for the Panthers.

Aaron Musburger and Mitch Rusten each had 12 points for the Bluestreaks, Jaustin Culbert was the only other Bluestreak in double figures with 10 points in the loss.

The Panthers improve to 9-3 overall on the season and they will play at Silver Bay on Monday night. Chisholm falls to 10-5 and they will play at Wrenshall on Tuesday night.
