The Proctor Rails and Moose Lake Area Rebels squared off on the ice Thursday night and it would be the Proctor Rails who came out victorious with the 8-2 victory over the Rebels.

Proctor would kick off the scoring on the evening with 2 goals in the first period. Christian Ripley was the first to score on the night, hitting the back of the net at the 9 minute mark to give the Rails the early 1-0 lead. Just 5 minutes later, teammate Grant Morin would score to give the Rails the 2-0 advantage after the first period.

The Rails would start the second period where they left off, with Tanner Bergman scoring just a minute in to give them a 3-0 lead. Jake Malec would make it 4-0 just 4 minutes later when he sniped one past the goalie. Moose Lake Area would respond however when Bryceton Butkiewicz scored their first goal to make the score 4-1. But Proctor would continue their hot hand with Josh Ernst scoring to make it 5-1. Ripley would notch his 2nd goal of the night at the 16 minute mark to make it 6-1, but just 14 seconds later Moose Lakes Devin Murphy would get that goal back to make it 6-2 at the end of the second period.

The third period would kick off fast as Proctors Brodie Nordquist scored just 13 seconds in to increase their lead to 7-2. Malec would score the nights final goal when he punched in his second goal of the evening at the 15 minute mark to give the Proctor Rails the 8-2 victory.

Moose Lake Areas goalie, Gage Mohelsky stopped 35 shots on the evening, while Proctors goalie, Matt Johnson, blocked 11 in the win.

The Proctor Rails improve to 5-12 on the season and will look to upset the #2 state ranked Hermantown Hawks (12-2) on January 21st. The Moose Lake Area Rebels fall to 2-12 on the season but will look to bounce back against the Pine City/Rush City Dragons (3-12) on January 20th.
