Mirage Skate Past Bluejackets

The Proctor/Hermantown girls hockey team took just 22 seconds to score the first, and only, goal they would need on Thursday in a 4-0 Mirage win over the Hibbing Blue Jackets.

Reilly Fawcett provided the hat trick in the win and Sophie McGovern chipped in with three assists.

Reilly Fawcett pumped home the early goal in the first period with assists to Sophie McGovern and Jillayne Gilbert.  Fawcett’s goal would be the only goal of the first period.

In fact Fawcett scored the only goal of the second period with an unassisted effort at 7:51 making it 2-0 after two periods.

In the third period it was Mikayla Kero notching a goal from McGovern and Fawcett at 8:25 on the power play and then Fawcett completed the hat trick at 11:16 of the final stanza with an assist to McGovern.

  Megan Frider made 23 saves for the Mirage in preserving the shut out and Kylie Hommerding finished with 20 saves on 24 shots for the Blue Jackets.
