Barnum Bomber Standout Sarah Myhre has committed to attend Northwestern College in St. Paul where she will attend school and play basketball for the Northwestern Eagles. The decision to attend Northwestern will reunite Sarah with her older sister Megan on the hardcourt once again.

Sarah, a senior forward for the Bombers, told Northland Sports Online that she “chose Northwestern based on the fact is was a Christian based college and that she loved the campus and it just seemed like a natural fit.” She later added, “It will be fun to play with Megan again. I have had the chance to see many games, hang out after games, and I love that its near the lake.”

Northwestern College is lighting the way in the Twin Cities and beyond through its educational philosophy of “faith, learning and living.” Northwestern is a community in which all learning is framed within the context of a biblical worldview—30 credits of Bible are integrated into every major.

Head coach of the Lady Eagles, Linda Schuck told NSO, “We are so excited that Sarah is coming to Northwestern. We can’t wait to add Sarah. Both Megan and Sarah are sound basketball players, as well as outstanding people and students; I can’t wait to coach the sisters. We talk about building our program around character first, than competency, and finally chemistry; and the Myhre sisters build all of that.”

Sarah said she is going to miss playing with her teammates at Barnum after graduation because they have become closer throughout the years of playing together. She is looking forward to playing again at the state basketball tournament this week in Minneapolis and hopes that the Bombers can achieve the ultimate goal of winning a state championship.

Myhre plans to major in Elementary Education and would love to become a second grade teacher in the future. She also looks forward to doing some possible mission work in the future as well. Sarah told NSO that her parents are the most influential people in her life, giving her a solid foundation and a strong moral upbringing.

Sarah will be joining a solid basketball team which has success on the court. The Eagles finished 15-13 this year, won the UMAC conference tournament and advanced to the NCCAA regional tournament where they fell to Bethel College.

Northland Sports Online would like to wish Sarah all the future success and also wish her and her teammates good luck in the upcoming girls state basketball tournament.
