Kasimir Kaskisuo Commits to UMD

 

Kaskisuoheadshot(Cloquet, MN) — The Minnesota Wilderness, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are very pleased to announce that goaltender Kasimir Kaskisuo has made his NCAA Division I commitment to University of Minnesota Duluth. Minnesota Duluth currently competes in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC).

Kaskisuo (6’2.25/201), the 20-year-old from Vantaa, Finland is the second player from the NAHL Wilderness organization to make a NCAA Division I commitment. In 24 games this season, Kasimir has a 15-5-4 record with 8 shutouts. He has a 1.35 goals against average and a 94.8% save percentage.

“UMD has everything I was looking for in a school and it’s amazing to be a part of this community,” said Kaskisuo.  “UMD had the whole package, I feel like it’s the best place for me. It’s good to finally get the process over with and now I can focus on the rest of the season.” stated Kaskisuo.

Wilderness head coach Corey Millen’s comments; “We are very excited for Kasimir to have an opportunity to continue his career at the Division 1 level, and look forward to be able to watch him and have him close to Cloquet.  Kasimir has a great approach and mentality towards the game and I think that is why he has had success for us.”

The Minnesota Wilderness is in its’ first season in the North American Hockey League. They are based in Cloquet, MN and play their home contests at Northwoods Credit Union Arena.
