Karppinens Combine For 73 Points In AlBrook Win

The AlBrook Falcons advanced to the Section 7A Quarter-Finals on Thursday night in Hermantown with a 91-74 win over Fond du Lac in front of a capacity crowd at Hermantown High School.

The Falcons and the Ogichida came out in the first half trading punches to battle to a 46-46 tie at the break. AlBrook, however, opened the second half with a 10-0 run and never looked back as they win this one by 17.

The Falcons were led by the Karppinen offensive show with senior Kolten Karppinen scoring 42 points (including ten three-pointers), while Bryce Karppinen added 31 points in the win for the Falcons. Fond du Lac was paced by junior Travis Brown, who poured in 27 points. Teammate Trevor Brown chipped in with 20 in the loss for Fond du Lac.

AlBrook improves to 15-8 overall on the season and advances to a 1:00 pm match-up Saturday in Hibbing against Lakeview Christian Academy. The Lions advanced in the earlier matchup Thursday night at Hermantown with a 73-65 win over Cherry. Fond du Lac ends their season at 9-13 overall.
