The history of Esko girls basketball is filled with names of legendary status. Players like Kuklis, Townsend, Mattson and Perich have dotted the Eskomo roster for years and have led them to incredible heights. Last week, Keely Deadrick made her mark on a program that already has featured some of the best players in northern Minnesota girls basketball history.

At Tuesday night’s first round Section 7AA playoff game against the Aitkin Gobblers, Deadrick became Esko’s all time girls basketball season scoring leader. Her 16 points on the evening moved her 2009-2010 season total to 508 points, eclipsing the 505 mark set by Janine Kuklis during the 2001-2002 season.

After scoring 24 points to lead the Eskomos past Rush City in Saturday’s quarterfinal action, Deadrick now sits atop the season charts with 532 points. She will look to add to that total and help Esko advance to the 7AA section finals when they take on #1 seed Deer River in semi-final action 7:45pm on Tuesday at UMD.
