Lady Rebels Win Nail Bitter With Cards

In the first game of the new year for both the Cromwell Cardinals and MLWR Lady Rebels, it would be the Lady Rebels coming out with the closely contested victory, 39-33.

Halftime would see MLWR hold the 8 point lead at halftime, 22-14 but the Cardinals would try to battle back outscoring the Lady Rebels 19-17 in the second half, but the Lady Rebels hung onto the victory, winning 39-33.

Leading the Rebels in the win was Adri Jusczak with 12 points. Hannah Walker added 9 points and Ava Szczyrbak scored 8 points in the victory. Topping off the scoring for the Lady Rebels was Kayla Radel with 6, Hayley Johnson pitching in 3, and Morgan Prachar adding 1.

In the loss for the Cardinals, Allie Cahoon led all scorers with 16 points. Tina Hakamaki added 5 points, Rachel Hutar and Kiiera Anderson each scored 4, Kelly Susa scored 2, and Kaylan Risacher and Andrea Hakamaki topped it off with 1 a piece.

The win improves the Lady Rebels to 6-2 on the season and they will travel to play the Wrenshall Wrens (0-7) on January 9th. The Cardinals fall to 3-4 with the loss and will host the McGregor Mercuries (6-2) on January 6th.
