The Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels got back in the winners’ column Monday as they downed the Duluth Marshall Hilltoppers by a score of 14-6. This win came after a loss to Hermantown last Friday.

“It was a good win,” head coach Lyle Halverson told Northland Sports Online. “We started off slow, had a few errors in the first but we got those corrected and went on to the win…We lost a tough one last Friday and it took us a little bit to get going today.” Halverson stated,”several errors cost us in the first inning but we regrouped and got going.”

Dan Anderson was the starting pitcher for the Rebels; he pitched five strong innings, only allowing four hits and one earned run to score. Anderson helped his own cause going 3-4 from the plate and driving in two runs as he picked up the win for the Rebels.

Rudy Ketchum hit a home run estimated at well over 425 feet, while going 4-5 from the plate and driving in two runs. Michael Unzen went 2-4 with two doubles and 2 RBIs. Abe Young added two hits in the Rebel victory.

The Rebels are in action again Tuesday, traveling to Grand Marias to take on Cook County. The Rebels improve to 5-1 on the season and will have a tough opponent in the Vikings.
