Boys Basketball

Barnum 65 Silver Bay 47

Jake Naslund scored 16 points, hitting four three-pointers as the hosting Barnum Bombers defeated the Silver Bay Mariners in a Polar League contest Friday night. Josh Hogan added 14 points in the win. Luke Thun finished with 16 for the Mariners.

Cloquet 74 Duluth Central 39

Chad Calcaterra and RaRa Jones each finished with 20 points and Tim Defoe contributed another 17 points as the Lumberjacks beat the Trojans at home on Homecoming. Darcell Williams scored 12 points for Duluth Central.

Esko 54 Cook County 42

Esko jumped out to a 15-point halftime lead and cruised to the 12-point win at home on Friday night. Jake Stainbrook finished with a game high of 21 points for Esko, while James Groth led the Vikings with 11 points in the loss.

Floodwood 66 Wrenshall 49

Amos Blanton scored a game high of 24 points Friday night as the Polar Bears beat the Wrens in this Polar League match-up. Josh Belden added 15 points for Floodwood. The Wrens were led by David Connor, who ended with 12 points in the loss.

Hermantown 59 Ashland 55

It was a big win Friday night for the Hawks, who defeated the Oredockers in this Lake Superior Conference match-up. Michael Swartz led the Hawks with 19 points in the win. Colten Zacharias added 15 and Corey Anderson chipped in with 11. Reggie Habas scored 26 for Ashland.

Marshall 72 Proctor 63

Duluth Marshall built a five-point halftime lead and extended it in the second half to pick up the nine-point win Friday night. Kyle Kneepkens scored 20 for Marshall in the win. Kaz Anderson had a game high 23 for Proctor.

McGregor 77 Carlton 53

The McGregor Mercuries defeated the Carlton Bulldogs Friday night in McGregor in this Polar League contest. McGregor has now won four of their last five games. The Bulldogs continue to struggle as they fall to 1-20 on the season.

ML-WR 55 Cromwell 51

Moose Lake-Willow River hit some clutch free throws down the stretch to beat the Cardinals in Cromwell Friday night and capture the Polar League Championship for the third straight season. Caleb Koecher led ML-WR with 15, while Jordan Smith poured in 22 for Cromwell.

Girls Basketball

Barnum 109 Silver Bay 13

Barnum had twelve players score in this Polar League win at home Friday night. Katrina Newman poured in 29 points to lead all scorers in the win. Allana Lampton finished with five points to lead Silver Bay.

East Central 72 ML-WR 64

The Eagles of East Central picked up a big win Friday night as they defeated the Rebels in Sandstone. The Eagles have now won twelve of their last 15 games and could be a tough team to beat come tournament time.

Esko 54 Cook County 45

The Eskomos overcame a halftime deficit of seven points to come away with a big Polar League win at home Friday night. Coming off of a tough loss to Braham, Esko rebounded with the nine-point win. Keely Deadrick led Esko with 20 points in the win.
