Trailing at halftime by eight points served as a wake-up call for the Cloquet girls basketball team on Friday night.  The Jacks were down 25-17 to the Denfeld Hunters and needed to play better in the second half if they wanted to win their third straight game.

They did just that by outscoring the Hunters by 10 points in the second half and the Jacks came out with a 50-48 home victory.

For the second straight game the Jacks relied on sophomore center Kassidy Steen for the inside work as Steen pounded in 14 points.  The outside work was done by a myriad of players including Kaylee McMillen who had 12 points and Jaiden Cofield who recorded 10 points.

The Jacks, who recorded one less basket from the field than the Hunters, made up for it with six-three pointers including two from Cofield and Hazel Erickson and one each from McMillen and Anna Fossen who finished with three points.  The Lumberjacks also got three points from Tara Longseth and two points from Sami Zeadow.
The Hunters were led by Lexi Hill’s 19 points and Ashley Taipale’s 15 points.
