Monday night was a tough one for the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton boys hockey team at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center. The Lumberjacks spent a lot of time on the penalty kill and trying to slow down Forest Lake in an 8-0 loss to the Rangers.

Forest Lake scored a pair of goals in the first period at 5:14 from Tommy Tyson and then on the power play at 8:36 from C.J. Franklin in what would be the first of his four goals on the night.

In the second period, the Rangers scored three goals, two on the power play, as they extended their lead to 5-0. Franklin scored back-to-back goals with less than a minute to play to help the Rangers gain a big advantage entering the final period.

Three more goals in the final period ended any chance of a Jacks come back as the Rangers rolled to the win.

For the game, the Rangers were 4-for-7 on the power play and the Jacks went 0-for-3. The goalie combination of Boyd Smith and John Scheuer made 30 saves on 38 shots, while Forest Lake goalie, Christian Gaffy made 41 saves on 41 shots.
