THUNDER’S DEANGELO DOLPHIS EARNS ALL-AMERICAN HONORS
DeAngelo Dolphis, a sophomore linebacker on the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College Thunder Football team, was selected to the National Junior College Athletic Association 2013 All-American Football Team. Dolphis earned a spot on the Second Team Defense for his outstanding performance during the 2013 season. He is one of only three players from the Minnesota College Athletic Conference to be named to the 50-player NJCAA All-American First and Second Teams.
Dolphis had an outstanding 2013 season, averaging 10.7 tackles per game, with two sacks, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and one interception return for a touchdown.
“I have witnessed first-hand DeAngelo’s lead-by-example style,” said Terry Fawcett, defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the FDLTCC Thunder. “DeAngelo is quiet and unassuming until he puts his pads on. For him to be named the NJCAA Region 13 Defensive Player of the Year and an NJCAA All-American is truly a credit to his dedication to the sport. I am very proud of his accomplishments and am thankful for the opportunity to coach him.”
Dolphis, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a graduate of Brooklyn Center High School, was previously selected First Team All-State in the Minnesota College Athletic Conference and was the 2013 NJCAA Region 13 Defensive Player of the Year. In 2012, Dolphis earned Academic All-State Team honors and was also named to the MCAC All-State First Team.
Complete rosters of college players named to the 2013 NJCAA All-American Team can be found at the NJCAA website located at http://www.njcaa.org.
