Mirage Roll In First Round Playoff Win

Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall exploded for three goals in the first and third periods on Thursday night as they rolled to a 6-0 win in the Section 7AA girls hockey playoffs over Cambridge-Isanti.

Emma Stauber made sure the Mirage got off to quick start by scoring back-to-back goals at 1:21 and 3:03 of the first period.
Julia Gilbert added another tally at 11:55 to power PHM to a 3-0 first period lead. Stauber’s first goal was assisted by Nikki Mathews and her second goal was assisted by Melinda Nelson and Steph Strapple, while Gilbert’s goal was unassisted.

After a scoreless second period, the Mirage added three more goals in the third period to top of their scoring. At 4:48 it was Gilbert scoring her second of the game and then Stauber finished off her hat trick by notching a goal at 8:31 with Steph Thund and Allison Jonas assisting. The Mirage’s final goal came at 13:21 on a score by Hannah Buchite with Gilbert picking up the assist.

The Mirage threw 47 shots on Blue Jacket goalie Emma Hafner, while Anya Morris made just 8 saves in preserving the shut out for PHM.


PHM will now move on to face #3 seed Grand Rapids/Greenway at 12:00 on Saturday in Hermantown
