The Barnum Bombers pulled an upset Friday night by defeating the Moose Lake-Willow River Rebels in Moose Lake, handing the Rebels their first Polar League loss of the season. The Bombers came away with a 44-38 win.

The Bombers came away with the win down the stretch in front of a packed gymnasium. Big baskets by Nick White and two free throws by Jacob Naslund sealed the win for the Bombers.

“We played great defense on the night,” head coach Richard Newman told Northland Sports Online. “The kids played hard and smart tonight. This was a big win, especially doing in Moose Lake. It is always a very tough place to play.”

Nick White and Taylor Carlson led the Bombers in scoring with 12 points each Friday night. Josh Hogan chipped in with 11, Justin Newman added 7 and Jacob Naslund finished with 2 points for the Bombers.

The Bombers improve to 14-3 on the season and play at home against Pillager in a tough match up Saturday afternoon. The Rebels lose their third straight game and fall to 13-6 on the season. They will play in Sandstone on Tuesday against East Central.
