Rails Shut out Dragons

The Proctor Rails picked up their second consecutive shutout Thursday night as the Rails shut out the Pine City-Rush City Dragons by a score of 9-0 in Proctor.

The Rails used a five goal first period and a four goal second period to go on to the 9-0 shutout victory.

Eight different players scored in the shutout win and Josh Ernst had the lone multi goal performance as he tallied two goals and had one assist on the night.

Forrest Hulter, Shane Gould, Ernst, and Boston Gilderman all scored in the first period for the Rails while Derek Dahlgren, Christian Ripley, Evan Scherber, and Tanner Bergman all scored in the second stanza.

Matt Johnson was the winning goaltender as he stopped all 14 shots he faced in net. The Dragons Tony Pitzen had 14 saves and Danny Pitzen also finished with 14 saves for Pine City-Rush City.

The Rails improve to 3-4 on the season and they will host Duluth Marshall Tuesday night in a Lake Superior Conference match-up.

The Dragons fall to 1-8 overall and they will try to snap a three games losing streak Tuesday night when they will host Cambridge-Isanti.
