East Central Earns First Win Over Carlton

The East Central Eagles would notch their first win on the young season, topping the Carlton Bulldogs 57-47.

The Bulldogs would get down early, 11-6 but would go on a 12-2 run to take the 18-13 lead midway through the 1st half. The Eagles and Bulldogs would stay close throughout the remainder of the first half, with the Bulldogs keeping their lead by a small 30-27 margin.

The second half would see Carlton continuing to hold onto their lead 42-38 early in the half, but that would be the last lead the Bulldogs would see, as the Eagles would take their first lead since the 1st half of the game. The Eagles wouldn’t look back as they would take advantage of the Bulldogs turnovers, increasing their lead to 50-44. Carlton would try to chip away at the lead, but East Central would hit a couple of key free throws late that notched them the 57-47 victory.

Leading the way in the win for the East Central Eagles would be Demetri Nordgaard with 14 points. Also for the Eagles would be Daylan Fuerhaker with 12, Traivon Lee with 11 points and Stephon Buckanan with 10 points. Cayman Audie would tack on 5, Connor Gafkjen  would have 3, and Nate Ecklund would round out the scoring with 2.

For the Bulldogs, Adam Ermatinger led all scorers with 25 points. Cade Pierson would pitch in 11 points, Dominic Bennett would add 9, and Eric Soderstrom would top it off with 2 points.

East Central (1-1) will be back in action when they welcome the Pine City Dragons (1-0) to town on Friday, December 6th. The Bulldogs (0-2) will try to get their first victory of the season when they host the Floodwood Polar Bears (1-0) also on Friday, December 6th.
