Giants top Agates in Season Opener

The boys basketball season kicked off Thursday night when the Giants of Mesabi East knocked off the Two Harbors Agates by a score of 76-70 in overtime, at Two Harbors High School in a sectional match-up.

The Agate built up a big first half lead, taking a sixteen point 3-22 lead at halftime, only to see the Giants storm back to tie the game and win it in overtime. The Giants connected on eight three-points on the night led by Neil Seibert who finished with four.

Seibert also had a game high 29 points, while his team mate Joe Radtke added 21 points, Steve Radtke chipped in with 14, and Dan Bobence had 4, Dan Radtke and Travis Mount each added 3 points and Drew Geise closed the Giants scoring with 2 points.

The Agates were led by Alex Lemke who had 21 points, Kyle Omtvedt added 17, John Perry had 16, Timm Bott ended with 9 and Kyler Kinn would end with 7 points for Two Hrbors. Lemke also chipped in with four three-pointers in the loss.

The Giants start the season 1-0 and they will play at Greenway Tuesday December 3rd. The Agates are 0-1 and they will host Greenway next Tuesday night at home.
