Lumberjacks-Rangers Skate to a 2-2 Tie

Alexa Bremer scored the game tying goal 13:57 into the third period as the Rangers tied the Lumberjacks 2-2 in a sectional match-up Thursday night at the FLAAA Sports Center in Forest Lake on Thursday night.

The Lumberjacks who were seeking their first win of the season  fell behind early as Kayla Kasel put the Rangers in front 1-0 3:53 into the first period. Mikayla Baker tied the contest with less than a minute to play in the first period as Baker scored off a pass from Courtney Ketola.

Kaitlyn Miller scored the only goal of the second period as the lumberjacks took a 2-1 lead on the power play goal. CJ Stoyanoff had the assist on the power play goal. The go ahead goal came at 13:49 of the second period.

The Lumberjacks held on to the one goal advantage throughout most of the third period until Bremer scored the game tying goal at the 13:27 point of the third period. Both teams had scoring chances in overtime but neither team could capitalize on those chances.

Lumberjack goalie Stacy Nelson finished with 37 saves on the night, while Forest Lake net minder Rachel Skoglund had 28 for the Rangers.

Cloquet-Esko-Carlton moves to 0-3-1 on the season and they will be back in action again Saturday afternoon when they will host Hill Murray at 3 pm at Northwoods Credit Union Arena. The Rangers are now 1-1-1 on the season and they will face Moundsview on Saturday.
