Last week the Proctor boys hockey team pulled out a big upset when they defeated Duluth Marshall for the first time in a decade. On Tuesday night the Rails used that momentum to defeat a very good Moose Lake Area Rebel team 6-1.

Neither team scored in the first period, but the Rails managed to build a 2-1 lead in the second period to take the advantage going into the final stanza. Jordy Carlson scored at 6:04 and then, barely over three minutes later, the Rails went up 2-0 when Tom Rossiter scored at 9:16. MLA showed their resilience by responding at 13:22 on a goal by Dylan Peterson and the second period ended with the Rails up 2-1.

Jesse Scanlon, who assisted on the Rails first goal, scored just 16 seconds into the third period, giving the Rails a 3-1 lead. Before the period ended Proctor added goals by Frank Katzmarek, Patrick Everson and Reed Olson as they pulled away to an impressive victory.

Derek Robinson, who has been nothing short of spectacular in nets for the Rails, made 19 saves on 20 shots and Rebel goalie, Austin Lanoue, finished with 18 saves on 24 shots.
