Cloquet-Esko-Carlton took to the road and pounded Superior 13-0 in high school girls hockey on Tuesday night. The Jacks threw 38 shots on Superior goalie Makayla Pitt on their way to the win.

The Jacks pumped in seven goals in the first period to send a message to the Spartans. That message came early when Dalyce Gustafson took a feed from Kelly Carlson at 1:12 to give CEC the lead. At 2:52 it was Melissa Clark scoring with assists to Callie Halverson and Jessie Ryan. Halverson returned the favor with a goal at 5:31 from Courtney Esse and then Clark scored her second goal at 11:06 from Halverson and Esse.


The onslaught continued when Emily Gustafson pumped in the first of her two goals at 13:23 with Carlson and Dalyce Gustafson assisting. The Jacks scored goals just four seconds apart at 14:58 from Courtney Esse and at 15:52 from Ryan to make it 7-0 after the opening stanza.

In the second period the Jacks scored four times, with the first coming from Courtney Esse at 3:37 with Halverson and Carley Esse assisting. Kara Cresap pumped in a goal at 4:06 with Ryan assisting, then at 8:29 Kalie Shevich scored from Ryan. The final goal of the second period was scored by Emily Gustafson with Carlson notching the assist.

Megan Nelson scored on assists from Carlson and Katie Konietzko just 17 seconds into the third period and the final goal of the game was scored by Carley Esse with Cresap assisting at the 13:12 mark of the third period.

Nicole Lund and Sarah Gustafson split goaltending duties for the Jacks and made a combined 7 saves in the game.
