Just last week the Cloquet-Esko-Carlton girls hockey team defeated Blaine during tournament play in the Twin Cities by a score of 2-0. On Thursday night, however, the Bengals returned the favor with a 2-0 victory over the Jacks in a tightly played game in Blaine.

On Tuesday night the Jacks had defeated Eveleth-Gilbert in a much anticipated game at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center. The Jacks spent a lot of emotion leading up to the game and on Thursday they were unable to re-energize in order to pick up a road win against a very good Blaine team.

Sophomore forward Brittany Thunstrom scored the only goal of the first period and the only goal the Bengals would need at 4:03 of the period, just managing to slide a shot past CEC goalie
Nicole Lund.
The only other goal of the game was scored by Erin Harper midway through the second period to make it 2-0 for the Bengals.

Gustafson replaced Lund in the second period and was solid in the nets for the Jacks, making 11 saves on 11 shots. Yet, CEC struggled in finding a way to score against senior goalie Cassy Landborg, who picked up the shut out in goal for Blaine. Landborg made 24 saves, while Gustafson made
all 11
saves and Lund made 10 of
12 saves for the Jacks.
