It was a long night for the Ashland Oredockers at the Cloquet Area Recreation Center on Monday. The CEC Lumberjacks bombarded the Ashland net with 55 shots on their way to a 7-0 shellacking of the Oredockers.

Despite only getting one goal in the first period, the Lumberjacks had the game in running time by the 3-minute mark of the third period. Jack McFarlane scored the only goal of the first frame with assists going to Paul Ryan and Paul Johnson. In the second period the Jacks put the game away with four goals as they built a 5-0 lead. Mark Savage, Justin Hammann, Chaise Jokinen and Ben Michaud all tallied goals in the period. The Jacks held a 42-13 shot advantage through two periods.

Just 2:43 into the third period, the Jacks got a goal from Joey Singpiel to put the game into running time and finally it was Connor Tollerud scoring at the 5:33 mark to end it.

Most of the game was spent in the Oredocker zone as CEC completely owned play. Using a significant speed advantage, the Jacks constantly bottled up the Oredockers. Ashland struggled to even chip the puck out of the zone at times, leaving Ashland goaltender Jake Haukass alone to defend the net. CEC also hit four pipes in the game, saying matters could have been even worse for the Oredockers.

The Jacks outshot Ashland 55-18 for the game. CEC goalie, John Scheuer, recorded the shutout by making all 18 saves.
