Hawk Boys Win Tournament Game

The number four ranked Class A team in the state, the Hermantown Hawks, hit the road for boys hockey tournament action on Monday. Playing at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Thief River Falls, the Hawks shut out Crookston 3-0 behind the solid goaltending of Tiegen Brickson.

Adam Krause, who scored twice in the game, gave the Hawks a lead at 8:06 of the first period with an assist to Kevin Danielson. Jesse Dyson scored for the Hawks on the power play at 15:38 of the first period with Krause and Jared Kolquist notching the assists to make it 2-0.

The Hawks ended the scoring on a power play goal by Krause at 5:38 of the second period with the assist going to Cody Christopherson.

A big key to the game was the Hawks ability to stay out of the penalty box as they picked up just one penalty for the game, while Crookston went to the box six times, allowing Hermantown to go 2-for-6 in man advantage situations.

For the game, the Hawks out shot Crookston 46-21 with Brickson making saves on all 21 shots. Crookston goaltender, Nick Biermeier, made 43 saves on 46 shots.
